In the 1960s, as a New Jersey high schooler, Nicholas Petti - known for years after as the spirited blues persona, Nasty Ned - had to decide between art-school and the rockin' blues coursing his veins.
Never attending art school - he rocked.
Enjoying a music career across six decades; singing, songwriting, performing, recording, and garnering a world audience - as well, a nod from the National Heritage Foundation's Blues Hall of Fame
Along the way, in Y2K, Petti circled back and picked up his paints and brushes like old friends on the highway, and discovered a personal renaissance in stylized art, some folks today call folk-art.
Signing his 21st century paintings at the time Ned - more specifically ND, his original art today hangs in a hundred private collections across the country as well the acclaimed Pamela Saint Collection where three 2016 works are displayed for public view in
Vertigo Gallery, Phoenix, AZ.
Nicholas Petti makes the Sonoran Desert his home since retiring his music career in 2014.
Petti more recently, in a vintage motorhome with his yellow puppy and a camera, chased the wild sky across the American West.
Today, many of his sensitive works in oil, acrylic and pencil are born of these timeless photographs.
While some call it folk art, others know it as just what happened along the way.
The journey continues in the studio in Buckeye, Arizona.
